Hartwick 84, Sage 33
Hartwick started the game on a 22-2 run and outscored visiting Sage 49-10 in the second half in an 84-33 home victory at Lambros Arena Thursday night. The 51-point win marks the largest margin of victory for the Hawks since a 98-36 win over Manhattanville to start the 1990-91 season. With the victory, the Hawks become just the seventh team in program history to start a season 6-1 or better.

Hartwick, which shot a blistering 58.2% (32-for-55) from the floor and 61.9% (13-of-21) from three-point range on the night, received 17 points apiece from both Maria Foglia and Brittney Dumas. Kate Purcell made all five of her three-point attempts and finished with 15 points.

Thirteen Hawks would figure into the scoring column in the contest. Hartwick would also earn a season-best 15 steals with eleven players recording at least one.  FULL STORY 


Utica 71, SUNYIT 56
The Utica College women's basketball team downed host SUNY IT 71-56 en route to its second straight win Thursday evening in non-conference action. Senior Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) recorded her fourth straight double-double to lead the Pioneers. 

Greenwald netted 13 points and brought down a game-high 16 off the glass. Freshman Kelsey Cowell (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) had another strong performance, ripping down 15 boards, including nine on the defensive end, and added nine points to go along with her team-best three steals. Junior Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) netted a season-high 18 points and added seven rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. Juniors Marissa Kahane (Sayville, NY/Sayville) and Adriana Surprenant (Utica, NY/New York Mills) combined for 21 points and six boards, while Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle)Christy Traglia (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk), and Calypso Carty (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West) also chipped in on the offensive end.  FULL STORY


William Smith 62, Nazareth 53
Sophomore Julia Brew scored a team-high 17 points for eighth-seeded Nazareth Thursday, but it wasn't enoughh as the Golden Flyers dropped a consolation game to fourth-seeded William Smith, 62-53, in the Wendy's College Classic played at RIT.

Nazareth, now 2-4 overall, will play again Saturday at 1 p.m. against the loser of the other consolation game between Brockport and RIT.

William Smith led 28-23 at halftime, but Nazareth rallied in the second half to take a 39-33 lead with less than 14 minutes left. Brew hit a pair of three-point baskets and sophomore Lindsey Kelly scored with 13:17 left to give Nazareth its largest lead.

William Smith chipped away at Nazareth's lead and regained the lead for good, 52-51, on a basket by Melanie Patterson with 2:10 to go. A three-point field goal and a two-point basket by Sarah Borenstein extended the Herons' lead to 57-53 with less than a minute to play and Nazareth didn't score again.  FULL STORY 


Roberts Wesleyan 64, St. John Fisher 60
Portia Velasco scored a game-high 21 points as the St. John Fisher College women's basketball team nearly overcame a 16-point deficit using a 14-1 run before falling to top-seeded Roberts Wesleyan 64-60 in a semifinal matchup at the 21st annual Wendy's College Classic Thursday night.
 
Fisher, now 5-3 on the year, will face the University of Rochester in the consolation match at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan's Voller Gymnasium.
 
The Cardinals got off to a slow start with Roberts Wesleyan jumping out to a 16-6 lead with 11:16 remaining in first half, forcing Fisher to call a timeout to regroup.
 
The break in action seemed to provide a spark, as Fisher got right back in the game courtesy of an 11-3 run with six points coming at the charity stripe to make it 19-17 in favor of Roberts Wesleyan.
 
The Redhawks, however, would respond with a modest 10-3 run of their own to take a 29-20 lead, but back-to-back baskets by Camaryn Buckner and Velasco cut the deficit to 31-24 as the halftime horn sounded.  FULL STORY
