Alfred throttles Penn Tech, 101-44

ALFRED, NY- The Alfred University women's basketball team earned a 101-44 victory over visiting Penn Tech, Sunday afternoon at McLane Center. This win improves the Lady Saxons to 3-3 (0-0 Empire 8) on the season.
Back-to-Back layups from sophomore forward
Hailey Sick (Dansville, NY/Dansville) boosted AU to a 17 point lead (23-6) with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Alfred led the Wildcats 43-17 at intermission.
Full-court press from the Lady Saxons forced the Wildcats into 32 turnovers, leading to 41 points from turnovers. AU led no less than 27 points throughout the second half, sealing the victory as time ticked away.
For the game, Alfred shot 43 percent from the field, 12 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free throw line.
Senior forward
Sarah Federico (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) and Sick both finished with double-doubles, scoring 10 and 20 points, and pulling down 10 and 11 rebounds each. Junior guard
Emilea Harrison (Conesus, NY/Dansville) scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior guard
Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and freshman forward
Amanda Off (South New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) posted 12 points apiece, and junior forward
Lindsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) brought down a game-best 12 rebounds.
AU returns to action on Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. against SUNY Brockport.
