Four women's swimming and diving teams finished the first day of the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca College's Aquatics Pavilion on Friday evening. 

Ithaca Recap
The women opened the first day with a 12th place finish in the individual 500-yard freestyle. Freshman Miranda Wingfield (Florence, Mass./Northamton) paced the Bombers with a time of 5:16.48, while fellow freshman Catherine Tompkins (West Chester, N.Y./Rye) earned a 32nd place finish in a time of 5:28.10.

Reigning Empire 8 Swimmer of the Week, Grace Ayer (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem), impressed with a fifth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Ayer finished in a time of 2:10.06, narrowly edging out teammate Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) who took seventh with a time of 2:10.87.

Freshman Lake Duffy (Pen Argyl, Pa./Pen Argyl) led all Bombers with a 19th place finish in a time of 25.24 in the 50-yard freestyle, while senior Heather Markus (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) took third with a score of 410.50 in the 1-meter dive.

The Bombers took sixth in the 4x50-yard medley relay, as the team of Kylie Bangs (Westfield, N.J./Westfield)Cassie Papaleo (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford), Ayer and Duffy completed the race in a time of 1:52.33.

Hartwick Recap
The women have 139 points and trail first place Cornell (527 points), SUNY Geneseo (248), Shippensburg (208), Ithaca (192), and Springfield (188). The best finish belonged to Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman) who came in ninth in the 200 IM in a time of 2:12.86. Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) was 14th (2:14.80) and Hanna Prendeville (Glens Falls, NY/Warrensburg) placed 17th (2:16.25).

Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern Academy) came in 13th in the 500 free (5:16.68). The 200 medley relay squad of Allison Agate (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), Nelson, Lindsay Bierwert (Leeds, MA/Northampton), and Kelsey Elliot (Cortland, NY/Homer) were ninth (1:55.88). Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA/Inglemoor) came in fourth in the one-meter diving event with a score of 396.30

Nazareth Recap
Nazareth's 200-yard medley team placed fifth with a time of 1:51.29 to earn 50 points. The Golden Flyers' team consisted of seniors Emily SauterKarisa Kobel, and Amanda Rogers, and freshman Bridget Geary. The team posted a time of 1:51.29.

Senior Emily Sauter was seventh in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.64 to earn 23 points for the women's team. Sauter's seed time was :24.64. Freshman Bridget Gearyalso competed in the 50-yard freestyle, and she finished 20th with a time of :25.29 to earn an additional five points. Senor Karisa Kobel also recorded a time of :25.53 to place 26th.

Freshman Cameron Hess placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.21 to tally 23 more points. It was nearly 20 seconds quicker than her seed time of 5:32.62. Golden Flyers also claimed places 23, 25, 26, and 28. Sophomore Renee Stromski was 23rd with a time of 5:23.61, followed by junior Emma Dorschel (5:24.4), freshman Lillian Masters (5:24.49), and junior Brittany Friedrich (5:26.34). Stromski's place earned an additional two points for Nazreth.

Freshmen Kaitlyn Hoag and Katie Kempf combined for 19 points in the women's one-meter diving event. Hoag had 276.6 points for 15th-place, while Kempf recorded 181.05 points to finish 18th. Junior Kristen Vitale was Nazareth's top performer in the 200-yard IM in 27th-place with a time of 2:19.47.  

Alfred Recap
The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team competed Friday during the first day of action at the three-day Ithaca College Invitational.

Three members of the AU women scored in individual events on Friday. Freshman Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) was 18th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.30) and sophomore Carly Watson (Hyde Park, NY/FDR) was 20th in the 200-yard individual medley. Freshman Liz Allende-Krisher (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was 16th in 1-meter diving (266.90 points). Staniszewski's time in the 500-yard free set a new school record.

The team of junior Chrissy Behr (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional), freshman Kylee Proudfit (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic), Watson and sophomore Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) was 12th in the 200 medley relay (1:59.06).
