Competition Wraps Up at Bomber Invite
The women's swimming & diving teams finished the third day of the Bomber Invite Sunday afternoon.

The women opened the final day of the Bomber Invite with a strong performance in the 1650-yard freestyle. Senior
Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) took fourth, finishing the race in a time of 17:49.95. Junior
Kylie Bangs (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) earned the second top-five finish of the day for the women, placing fifth with a time of 2:08.36 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Freshman
Grace Ayer (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing the race in 2:28.96. Ayer joined
Lyndsay Isaksen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville),
Lake Duffy (Pen Argyl, Pa./Pen Argyl) and
Lauren Cox (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) in the 4x100-yard freestyle relay, placing fifth with a time of 3:40.43.
Hartwick Recap
Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) had the top performance as she was second in the 200 breast in a time of 2:24.38 which also was an NCAA "B" cut time. She was a member of the 400 free relay team along with
Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A.Coleman),
Helen Merkley(Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), and
Rachel Bellis (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Acad.) that came in eighth in 3:47.80.
Merkley and Bellis both had top 20 finishes in their respective individual events. Merkley was 17
th in the 200 back (2:16.39) while Bellis was also 17
th in the 1650 free (18:47.50).
Nazareth Recap
Nazareth's women's team, buoyed by a third-place finish from freshman
Cameron Hess in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finished with 611 points to finish sixth in the 12-team field. Division I Cornell won easily with 1986.5 points. Springfield was second with 971, followed by Geneseo (939.5), Ithaca (766), Shippensburg (715.5), Nazareth (611), Hartwick (463), Susquehanna (418.5), Cortland (410), LeMoyne (364), Alfred (293) and Masnfield State (173).
In the men's competition, sophomore
Dan Burke finished fifth in Sunday's 200 backstroke as Nazareth finished in sixth place among 11 teams with 513 points. Cornell lapped the field in winning the team competition with 2176.5 points. Ithaca was second with 919.5, followed by Geneseo with 844, Hartwick (819), Springfield (607), Nazareth (513), Alfred (444.5), LeMoyne (441), Susquehanna (434.5), Shippensburg (386) and Cortland (331).
In the women's meet Sunday, Hess was the top Division III finisher in the 1,650 freestyle, finishing behind only two swimmers from Cornell with a time of 17:48.99. Sophomore
Kimberly Pedrotti and junior
Brittany Friedrich placed seventh and eighth respectively in the same race with times of 18:09.46 and 18:23.90.
Pedrotti also finished eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.73), while freshman
Nicole Charette finished 14th (2:34.75). Senior
Emily Sauter finished 10th in the 100 freestyle (:53.72) and anchored the 400 free relay that placed fourth in 3:40.12. Freshman
Bridget Geary and seniors
Karisa Kobel and
Amanda Rogers also competed in that event.
Alfred Recap
Two AU swimmers scored in individual events on Sunday. Freshman
Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) was 15
th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:44.71) and junior Chrissy Behr (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) was 19
th in the 100 freestyle (55.22).

Kelsey McRill, (Solon OH/Solon), Staniszewski and sophomore
Carly Watson (Hyde Park, NY/FDR) placed sixth in the 400 free relay (3:43.97).
