Cardinals Dominate at Nazareth; Bombers Outlast Houghton
St. John FIsher 78, Nazareth 50
The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team took down Empire 8 and East Avenue rival Nazareth College by a 78-50 score Tuesday night. With the road victory, the Cardinals improve to 15-8 overall and 8-3 in the Empire 8 Conference. Nazareth falls to 14-9 on the season and 6-6 in the E8.
The 28-point win marked the Cardinals’ largest margin of victory over Nazareth since the 1998-99 season when Fisher won 94-61.
The Cardinals put together a solid opening half, playing strong on both ends of the court. The play resulted in Fisher holding a 43-27 lead at the end of the stanza.
The Fisher control didn’t end after that half, as the Cardinals broke out to a lead by as many as 33 points when they led 72-39 with just over five minutes to play.
It was a balanced attack for the Cardinals who shot 51.9% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc in the victory. Nazareth shot just 32.7% overall. Fisher also finished with five players scoring in double digits.

Ithaca 85, Houghton 72
The Ithaca College men's basketball team (16-7) defeated visiting Houghton (1-24) 85-72 Tuesday night at Ben Light Gymnasium.
Ithaca held an edge the entire game. The Highlanders were within striking distance, 28-26, at 7:42, but Ithaca took at double-digit advantage at 4:25. The Bombers constructed a 10-3 run to lead 50-37 at the half. Despite a 16-point deficit five minutes into the second, Houghton challenged the Bombers late in the game. Ithaca found itself with an eight-point margin with 1:17 lingering in action, but closed out the game on a 6-1 run for the win.
Ithaca senior Sean Rossi served up 11 assists, eight of which were in the first half, to move into third all-time in NCAA Division III history with 895 career assists. He is chasing the DIII record of 917.
Ithaca shot 47.6 percent from the floor to the Highlanders' 45.8 percent and owned a 40-36 edge in rebounds.
