Stevens Men's Basketball Ranked 24th in Latest D3Hoops.com Top 25

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 12, 2013) – After a 3-0 week, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s basketball team jumped one spot to No. 24 in the latest
D3Hoops.com Top 25. The Ducks boast an overall record of 20-3 and are at the top of the Empire 8 standings with a league mark of 10-2.
Stevens opened the week with a hard-fought 70-67 win at Baruch College in front of a sold-out and hostile Bearcat crowd. Senior guard Sheldon Jones scored 29 points for the second-straight outing and the Ducks were able to hang on against a tough foe.
The Ducks returned home and soundly defeated Elmira College by a 59-46 final Friday. Elmira did not score its 20th point until the game was 31 minutes old and the Ducks held a 30-point margin with 6:11 to play.
Stevens then squared off against Ithaca College Saturday evening in a contest that pitted the two teams that were tied atop the conference standings. The Ducks ended the first half with a nine-point lead and started the second with a 15-3 run to put the game away. Stevens eventually settled on an 87-65 triumph and is now in control of its own destiny in terms of a regular-season conference title.
To close the regular season, the Ducks will take on Alfred University Friday night at 6 p.m. and St. John Fisher College Saturday at 2 p.m.
