Empire 8 Women's Basketball Tournament Field Set
On the final weekend of the Empire 8 regular season the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks and the St. John Fisher Cardinals have clinched a berth into the post season, joining Ithaca College and Hartwick College.
Ithaca had the top seed secured following last weekend but will not be able to host due to construction at their home court and conflicts with a potential neutral site. As a result, No 2 seed Hartwick will host the tournament but Ithaca will still be the top seed.
Stevens clinched the third seed with a win over Fisher on Saturday, leaving a three-way tie for the fourth seed between Fisher, Nazareth and Utica. All three team split head to head but it was Fisher who held the advantage with a win over top seeded Ithaca on January 18.
The two semifinals matches will take place on Friday, Feb. 22 at Hartwick. The two winners will meet on Saturday, Feb. 23 in the Empire 8 Championship with the winner earning an automatic bid and advancing to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
