Empire 8 Swimming & Diving Teams Recognized by CSCAA for Academics

Five women's and four men's teams honored

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference had four men’s and five women’s swimming and diving teams chosen as College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for their academic work during fall 2012 semester, as announced by the CSCAA. A total of 115 NCAA Division III women’s teams and 64 NCAA Division III men’s teams earned the distinction.

The Team Scholar All America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships (winter/spring).

The Ithaca women led the list of Empire 8 women’s teams with a 3.54 grade-point average. Joining the Bombers were Nazareth (3.48), Stevens Institute of Technology (3.30), Alfred (3.15) and Hartwick (3.00).

On the men’s side, Stevens Institute of Technology posted a 3.28 grade-point average. Alfred (3.12), Ithaca (3.11) and Nazare (3.07) also made the academic list.
