Cahill and Wilkins Earn Weekly Empire 8 Honors
Junior Michael Cahill of Stevens Institute of Technology and junior Brendan Wilkins of Ithaca College earned Empire 8 Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
Cahill, now a three-time athlete of the week, including the cross country season, broke his own school record in the 3,000-meter race by 16 seconds. He posted a time of 8:42.91, improving on his old program record of 8:58.12, en route to placing fourth. No Stevens runner had ever ran a time better than 9:04.02 before this season.
Wilkins hit the ECAC qualifier in the high jump as he cleared 2.00 meters in the high at the NYU Fastrack Team Challenge at the Armory to place second.
