Graves and Pierson earn E8 honors
Ithaca sophomore Harmony Graves and Nazareth freshman Taylor Pierson have been honored as Empire 8 Conference Athletes of the Week.
Graves was named NYSCTC Women's Track Athlete of the Meet Saturday as she helped Ithaca claim its fifth consecutive NYSCTC Indoor championship. She won the 200-meter dash with a facility record of 26.01 and raced to a first-place finish of 7.95 in the 60 dash. She also ran on Ithaca's 1:47.65 4x200 relay that placed fourth. All three races she competed in met the ECAC qualifier.
Pierson won a state title in the long jump with a school-record leap of 17 feet, 11 3/4 inches. She also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash after setting a school record in the preliminary round with a time of :26.76.
