Empire 8 Honors Stefanon as Pitcher of the Week
St. John Fisher softball senior Sarah Stefanonwas tabbed as the Conference's Pitcher of the Week.
Stefanon led the Cardinals to a 4-6 overall record last week, including a 2-4 record at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Georgia, an invitational featuring the nation's top programs.
In seven appearances, the senior posted a 1.05 earned run average and struck out 34 batters in just 25.2 innings pitched.
On Sunday, she pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts to earn the win in Fisher's victory over No. 17 Ohio Northern University. Earlier the day, she pitched 5.1 innings, giving up five hits and one earned run with six strikeouts. She didn't factor in the decision, as Fisher scored four in the seventh inning to beat No. 10 Central College (IA) 6-4.
