Eighth-Ranked Kean Rallies To Knock Off Bomber Baseball
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Eighth-ranked Kean (8-3) scored seven runs over the last two innings, including five in the top of the ninth, to rally for a 12-10 baseball win over Ithaca College (4-3) on Tuesday afternoon in California. The Bombers return to action Wednesday at Occidental.
The Bombers led 8-7 headed to the top of the ninth, but a leadoff walk, four hits and two errors helped Kean build a 12-8 advantage. Ithaca responded with a rally in the bottom of the ninth, and scored two runs on four straight hits and a fielder's choice, and had two runners on base when Kean was able to get a fly out to end the game.
Brian Burns was 3-for-4 in the game with two runs scored. Three other Ithaca players had two hits each. Colby Gee was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Tim Henry was 2-for-4 and Corey Caswell was 2-for-6 with an RBI. Tim Locastro scored three times for the Bombers.
Jimmy Wagner allowed three earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings for the Bombers, with six strikeouts. David Jasukonis took the loss in relief and is 0-2 on the season.
The Bombers got two runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run double from Gee, added single runs in the second and third innings and scored three unearned runs in the sixth inning.
