Bombers Rout No. 18 Bridgewater; Baseball Back In Win Column
CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Ithaca College baseball team slugged 20 hits and scored 15 runs in a 15-2 win over 18th-ranked Bridgewater (Va.) in a neutral-site game Thursday morning in California. The Bomber victory snapped a four-game skid and lifted Ithaca to 5-4 on the season. Bridgewater is 10-4.
The Bombers scored three times in the top of the second as the rally began with three consecutive singles by Colby Gee, Corey Caswell and Max Addy and all three came in to score.
After Bridgewater answered with a run in the bottom of the second, the Bombers took control of the game with seven runs in the top of the third. Two-run doubles from Addy and Tim Locastro highlighted the rally.
Kevin Primm and Tim Locastro each hit two-run homers in a five-run sixth inning for the Bombers to cap an offensive rout. It was the fourth game in a row and sixth time in nine games this year that Ithaca has scored at least eight runs.
Pat Lemmo pitched seven innings for the win. He allowed 10 hits and two runs, one of which was earned. Lemmo struck out five batters and walked none. Matt Colbert pitched the final two innings without allowing a run.
Ithaca continues its spring trip Friday with games Friday and Saturday against Rutgers-Newark.
