Prendergast Pitches Bombers Past Rutgers-Newark

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Bomber pitcher John Prendergast threw a complete game victory with 10 strikeouts as the Ithaca College baseball team won its second straight game, defeating Rutgers-Newark 8-2 on Friday morning at Arce Field in Claremont, Calif.

Prendergast's win was his second of the season. He allowed two runs, both were earned, on six hits and walked one batter.

The Bombers gave him early support with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tim Henry had a two-run triple and Colby Gee followed with a triple to bring home Henry. Max Addy had an RBI sac fly to score Gee.

Ithaca added single runs in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Jasper Adams was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Gee also had two hits and drove in two runs. Tim Locastro scored twice.

Ithaca faces Rutgers-Newark again on Saturday at Whittier, Calif., before wrapping up its spring trip Sunday at Chapman.
