Nazareth gains first men's tennis win

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Nazareth secured its first men's tennis victory of the season Thursday as the Golden Flyers captured four of the singles six matches on the way to a 5-4 victory over Shepherd University of West Virginia.

Senior Ryan mcCormick and freshman Tyler Williams each were ahead in their respective singles matches when their opponents retired. Senior Jeremy Mancus also pulled out a tiebreaker victory at second singles. He split the first two sets, then took the tiebreaker 11-9.

Junior Erik Manske also earned a team point with a 7-5, 6-3 win at fourth singles. Mancus and Manske accounted for Nazareth's lone doubles point, winning 8-2 at second doubles.

Nazareth concludes its spring break trip with a match Friday against College of Wooster at 8 a.m.
