Senior midfielder Nicolas Philippi of the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team and freshman Scott Sidnam of Ithaca College earned Empire 8 Conference Player and Goalie of the Week recognition, respectively for the week of March 11-17.

The Ducks, ranked No. 4 in the USILA poll last week, played No. 1 SUNY Cortland and No. 11 Tufts University during Spring Break. Stevens dropped both contests by 12-11 in overtime and 18-14 scores, but Philippi tallied eight goals and one assist. In the overtime loss to Cortland, Philippi posted two goals and his lone assist. He kept the Ducks in most of the 18-14 loss to Tufts with six goals on 16 shots on cage. Philippi took 27 shots over the week and put 21 on goal for a .778 percentage.

Through seven games this season, Philippi leads the Ducks with 34 points and 24 goals. His 10 assists rank him third on the squad, while his four man-up tallies are second.

The Ducks are back at home on Wednesday, March 20 at 7 p.m. against Montclair State University for the final non-conference game of the season. Stevens opens up Empire 8 play against Alfred University at 1 p.m. on March 30.

Sidnam recorded a pair of victories in goal at Virginia Wesleyan and Christopher Newport during the Bombers' spring training trip.

Sidnam improved to 4-0 on the season tallying six saves against the Marlins in the Bombers' 11-6 victory and a career-best 11 stops in Ithaca's 8-2 win over the Captains. It was CNU's lowest-scoring game since the 2011 season. Sidnam added three ground balls and one caused turnover.

The Bombers return to action on Wednesday, March 20 when they host Oneonta at 4 p.m. in their 2013 home opener at Higgins Stadium.
