Baseball Player of the Week – Ithaca
Tim Locastro, Junior, Shortstop – Auburn, NY/Auburn
Tim Locastro batted .636 (7-for-11) over three games, leading the Bombers to a sweep of Houghton. He had four RBIs and scored six runs, while stealing four bases. His on-base percentage was .714 and two of his seven hits were triples.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Stevens
Tyler Courter, Senior – Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Township
Tyler Courter tossed eight innings to pick up the victory in a 3-2 matchup with Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, March 23. Courter struck out 11 batters and walked none. He gave up just four hits and two earned runs for his third win this season.
Softball Player of the Week – Utica
Mallory Ingalls, Senior, Catcher/Utility- Oriskany, NY/Oriskany
Mallory Ingalls batted .500 in eight games for Utica at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL last week. She had 13 hits, including one home run and five doubles, and drove in 11 to help the Pioneers to a 4-4 record. She also opened the season with an eight game hitting streak. On the year, Ingalls leads the team, and ranks second in the conference with a .484 batting average. She also has team-highs in hits (15), RBI (12), and total bases (23).
Softball Pitcher of the Week – Stevens
Molly Herforth, Senior – Pompton Plains, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy
Molly Herforth led the Ducks to their first win of the season over New Jersey City University, allowing just one unearned run on three hits while striking out five hitters in seven innings. She also went 2-3 with a walk, run and RBI at the plate.
Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week –Ithaca
Jake Long, Junior, Midfield – Ft. Washington, PA/Upper Dublin
Junior Jake Long was one of two Bombers to score eight points during the week. Each of his eight came from goals. He posted a career-best five goals in the Bombers' 14-4 victory over Oneonta Wednesday, before adding a hat trick in Ithaca's double overtime heart-breaking loss, 9-8, at top-ranked Cortland Friday. Long collected three ground balls, while committing just two turnovers and shooting .588 percent in the 1-1 week for the 18th-ranked Bombers.
Men’s Lacrosse Goalie of the Week – Ithaca
Scott Sidnam, Freshman – Camillus, NY/West Genesee
Freshman Scott Sidnam stopped 27 shots on goal in a 1-1 week for the 18th-ranked Bombers. The rookie matched his career-high with 11 saves in Ithaca's 14-4 rout of Oneonta Wednesday, before increasing his career-high to 16 saves in 66:08 minutes of action at top-ranked Cortland Friday. The Bombers suffered a 9-8 double-overtime loss to the Red Dragons. He collected four ground balls and forced one turnover during the week.
Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week - Hartwick
Emily Jweid, Sophomore, Attack – Marcy, NY/Whitesboro
Emily Jweid totaled 11 goals, four assists, 15 points, and 17 draw controls while shooting 65% this week to lead Hartwick to a 2-0 week. Jweid erupted for career-highs of five goals, three assists, and eight points as Hartwick defeated Houghton, 20-8, on Saturday. She also equaled a career-best with seven draws and collected three ground balls and two caused turnovers. She waited just over 24 hours for several of her personal bests to fall as she scored a career-high six goals and grabbed a career-high 10 draw controls in an 18-11 victory over Cazenovia Sunday. She added a pair of ground balls in the game and finished the week scoring on 11 of her 17 shots (.647).
Women’s Lacrosse Goalie of the Week – Elmira
Mary Kate Gellerman, Senior – Frederick, MD/Urbana
Mary Kate Gellerman allowed three goals in 60 minutes of action over two games and posted a 57.1 save percentage. On Saturday against Nichols she played the entire second half making one save and giving up just one goal. The senior earned the start against Misericordia on Sunday making three saves in the win playing the first half.
Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Stevens
Matthew Heinrich, Freshman – Hendersonville, TN/Hendersonville
Matthew Heinrich won both his matches at second singles, including the Ducks' only individual victory against undefeated No. 20 MIT. The rookie improved his singles record to a team-best 6-2. Heinrich also paired with senior Chris Rosensteel to take both matches at first doubles, improving the duo's record to 7-1 this spring, which includes five matches against Top 25 teams.
Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week – Stevens
Victor Servito, Senior – Teaneck, NJ/Bergen Catholic
Senior Victor Servito placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25 seconds and also ran a leg on the third place 4x400-meter relay team. The relay team posted a time of 3:30.20.
Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Stevens
Sebastian Luna, Senior – Wood-Ridge, NJ/Wood-Ridge
In the javelin, senior Sebastian Luna blew away the field by over two meters with a toss of 59.95 meters. Luna competed against 20 other participants and met an ECAC standard with the throw.
Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week – Houghton
Alyssa Figueroa, Junior – Piscataway, NJ/Timothy Christian
Freshman Alyssa Figueroa took top honors in the 100-meter dash in the outdoor meet at Mary Washington. Figueroa ran a time of 12.78 in the preliminaries to best the field of 22 runners. In the finals she clocked a 12.67.
Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Stevens
Gladys Njoku, Freshman – Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove
Gladys Njoku posted a school record and ECAC mark in the high jump with a cleared bar of 1.58 meters to take first in the event. Twelve competitors took part in the event.
