Stevens Track & Field Sweeps First Empire 8 Men's Outdoor Weekly Awards
HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 25, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's outdoor track & field team took the opening Empire 8 Conference weekly awards for the spring season. Stevens competed at the non-scoring Richard Stockton College Invitational on March 23.
Senior
Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) earned the conference’s top Track Athlete of the Week and placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25 seconds and also ran a leg on the third place 4x400-meter relay team. The relay team posted a time of 3:30.20. Servito, the 2012-13 Empire 8 Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, was a two-field athlete of the week in the winter.
Fellow senior
Sebastian Luna (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) blew away the field by over two meters with a toss of 59.95 meters to take Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week honors. Luna competed against 20 other participants and met an ECAC standard with the throw.
The Ducks compete again on March 30 at Monmouth University at 10:30 a.m.
