Athletes Set Personal Bests on Day One of ECAC’s

NEW YORK CITY (March 1, 2013) – Senior Victor Servito
currently ranks third in the heptathlon for the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s indoor track & field team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships after the first day of competition. Day two begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the New York City Armory.
Servito has totaled 2,538 points through four events and set personal bests in the 60-meter dash, shot put and high jump. He ran a time of 7.38 seconds in the 60, recorded a mark of 9.99 meters (32 feet, 9.5 inches) in the shot put and cleared the bar in the high jump at 1.90 meters (6’ 2.25”).
St. John Fisher freshman Devin Cornelius is in fourth place overall in the heptathlon and just 13 points out of third place through four events. He set personal records in both the shot put and 60-meter dash.
Utica senior Sylvester Owusu-Afriyie qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash. Owusu-Afriyie clocked a season-best time of 7.00 in the 60-meters dash as he placed fourth awaiting Saturday's final round.
