Regan and Scheemaker Place Second in Day One Events at ECAC’s

NEW YORK CITY (March 1, 2013) – Day one of the 2013 DIII ECAC Track & Field Championships has wrapped up this evening as new school records were set around the conference.
Stevens Institute of Technology freshman Amy Regan re-established her own school record in the 5,000-meter run by 27 seconds. Regan finished the race in second place overall with a time of 17:23.10, surpassing her old mark of 17:50.36 in December. She provisionally qualified for NCAA’s and currently holds the 18th best time in the country, while also ranking as the third best freshman in the nation. Ithaca sophomore Alexa Rick clocked an 18:07.02 to place seventh.
Ithaca also had a second place finish on the day by sophomore Emilia Scheemaker who placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.00 meters to power to a new school record. Utica freshman Sarah Wiatr tallied five points soaring 11.40 meters in the event.
Ithaca freshman Emily Ziegler finished fourth in the pentathon with a 3,058 point performance and Stevens sophomore Amira Dardir took seventh in the pentathlon with a school-best 2,890 points.
Ithaca's distance medley relay placed sixth with a time of 12:31.93.
