Bombers Win Third ECAC Indoor Title
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The 23rd-ranked Ithaca College women’s track & field team won its third ECAC Indoor Championship on Saturday at the Armory. The Bombers tallied 76 points, 26 points ahead of the second-place team, in winning their second crown in four years. The Bombers placed sixth in 2011 and 2012.
Senior Jenn Randall rewrote her own 800-meter run record with a second-place finish of 2:14.38. She also won the mile run in 4:55.88, just .35 seconds shy of the school record.
A second school record was slashed on the day as Ithaca placed third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:56.19.
Senior Amanda Rissmeyer won the high jump with a clear of 1.69 meters, freshman Kayla Prior placed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.39 meters and the Bombers 4x800 relay placed fourth with a 9:35.48 finish. Sophomore Emily Smith crossed the finish line of the 1,000 run with a fifth-place time of 3:04.24.
Three Bombers tallied three sixth-place finishes. Sophomore Kristina Stockburger had a heave of 15.58 meters in the weight throw, classmate Emilia Scheemaker leaped 5.31 meters in the long jump and sophomore Harmony Graves raced the 400 in 58.05.
Stevens Institute of Technology senior Alina Duran claimed the weight throw title with a toss of 16.84 meters (55 feet, 3 inches) and won by nearly two feet. She guided the women's team to a ninth place finish overall out of 50 teams.
Nazareth freshman Taylor Pierson leaped to a first-place finish in the women's long jump. Pierson shattered her own school record yet again with a leap of 5.51 meters (18 feet, 1 inch) and provisionally qualified for next week's NCAA Championships in Naperville, Ill.
Utica junior Jess Ciraulo placed sixth in the finals Saturday in the 60-meter hurdles. After surpassing her own school-record on Friday with a clock of 9.02, Ciraulo came back on Saturday in the finals with a time of 9.16.
Athletes will travel to North Central College on March 8-9 for the NCAA Indoor T&F Championships. The championship field will be announced on Monday, March 4.
