Lafaver and Servito Named Empire 8 Athletes of the Week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 4, 2013) – Nazareth junior Jake Lafaver and Stevens senior Victory Servito earned Empire 8 Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards after a outstanding performances at the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend. 

Lafaver finished third in the 800-meter run last Saturday at the ECAC Division III Championships at the New Balance Armory in New York City. Lafaver lowered his personal-best time to 1:53.24 to reach a provisional qualifying time for this weekend's NCAA meet in Illinois. It marked the second week in a row that Lafaver was honored by the Empire 8.

Servito finished second in the heptathlon at the ECAC Championship with a school record 4,719 points. Servito took first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.56 seconds), second in the high jump (1.90 meters) and fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.38 seconds). He also cleared 3.80 meters in the pole vault, recorded a toss of 9.99 meters in the shot put, leaped six meters in the long jump and clocked a 2:49.26 in the 1000 meter run.
