Deiner and Wooters Take Opening E8 Weekly Honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 4, 2013) – Stevens sophomore Matthew Deiner and Nazareth freshman Luke Wooters have been named the Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Athletes of the week for the seven-day period that ended March 3.

Deiner was named Empire 8 Conference Goalie of the Week after earning a pair of victories for the No. 6 ranked team in the country.

Deiner stopped a total of 27 shots with a .628 save percentage in all 120 minutes in cage last week. He made 14 saves in a 16-8 win over Eastern Connecticut State on February 27 and then registered 13 saves in a 16-8 triumph over No. 20 Springfield on March 2. Deiner also scooped up three groundballs in the victory over the Pride on Saturday.

The Ducks have outscored their opposition, 67-33, thus far and have yet to give up double-digit goals in a game. Stevens will play Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m. at the De Baun Athletic Complex.

Wooters was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week as he produced a career-high seven poinits on six goals and one assist in a 10-9 home-field loss to Geneseo last Saturday. Wooters' sixth goal of the game with 11:33 left in the fourth quarter gave the Golden Flyers' their last lead of the game at 9-8 before Geneseo rallied.

Nazareth (1-2) returns to action Wednesday, March 6 for a non-conference game against Clarkson at 1 p.m. at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.
