Norsen, Jones and Maisch Named ECAC Upstate All-Stars
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2012-13 Division III Men's Basketball All-Stars. Three Empire 8 Athletic Conference athletes have been recognized on the ECAC Upstate teams.
St. John Fisher senior Jason Norsen was named to the first team, while Stevens senior Sheldon Jones and Utica junior Connor Miasch were chosen to the second team. They were selected based on a vote of regional coaches.
Norsen led the conference in field-goal percentage (62.4%) and blocked shots per game (3.4). He was also fifth in rebounds per game (7.9) and ninth for points per game (14.4).
Jones was second in the conference in scoring and led the Ducks, averaging 17.3 points per game. He converted a 46.0 percent clip from the floor, 36.6 percent from long range and 86.6 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
Maisch, a transfer from Hudson Valley Community College, shot an incredible 52.8% (85-for-161) and his 85 3-pointers set a new single-season record at Utica. He started all 26 games and averaged 16.3 points and 5.5 rebounds to help the Pioneers to earn their first E8 tournament bid since the 2008-09 season.
