Fiore, Campbell and Dumas Tabbed ECAC UpState All-Stars
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2012-13 Division III Women's Basketball All-Stars. Three Empire 8 Athletic Conference athletes have been recognized on the ECAC Upstate teams.
Utica senior Megan Fiore was named to the first team, Ithaca junior Kathryn Campbell was selected to the second team and Hartwick freshman guard Brittany Dumas was voted ECAC Rookie of the Year. They were selected based on a vote of regional coaches.
Fiore appeared in all 25 games, making 23 starts, and averaged 15.2 points per contest. She ranks fourth in the E8 with 8.3 rebounds per game. She had five 20 plus point performances including a season-high 28 points in UC's 77-67 loss to RPI, and a team-best nine double-doubles this year.
Campbell paces the Bombers with a team-best 12.2 points per game. She averages 4.9 rebounds per game and has 81 assists, 49 steals and six blocks. The Bombers are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs and ninth in the past 13 seasons. The Bombers (27-2), who have had a record-setting season, have won 14 consecutive games to tally their fourth straight 20-win campaign. Ithaca defeated Colby-Sawyer, 56-43, in the first round of the tournament before defeating Smith, 73-50, to punch its ticket to the Sweet 16 where they will face Williams on Friday, March 8 at 8pm.
Dumas finished as Hartwick's top scorer this season with an average of 14.5 points per game. In addition to scoring, Dumas led the Hawks in field goals made (179), field-goal percentage (.526), offensive rebounds (77), and blocked shots (23). She was second in rebounding on the squad (6.4 r/gm).
Dumas reached double figures in scoring in 19 of the Hawks' final 20 games of the season. She helped the Hawks to the ECAC Metro Championship after averaging 15 points and 8.7 rebounds in three contests.
