Ithaca's Rossi Named D3Hoops.com Second-Team All-American

ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College men's basketball senior Sean Rossi has been named to the D3Hoops.com All-America Second Team. He becomes the 15th all-American in program history.

He earns the accolade after being named to the D3Hoops.com All-East Region First Team and the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-East District First Team. 

Rossi set the NCAA Division III all-time assists record on Feb. 22 during a 70-63 victory in an Empire 8 semifinal against St. John Fisher. He surpassed Ramapo's Tennyson Whitted who held the record of 917 since 2003. Rossi amassed 957 career assists to rank eighth all-time across all divisions.

He led the Bombers (21-9) with 214 assists on the season, averaging 7.1 per contest to rank fourth nationally. Becoming the 23rd Bomber in program history to reach the 1,000-point threshold, Rossi chipped in 8.5 points per game. He also added 3.0 rebounds per outing and 21 steals in 30 starts for Ithaca.

The Bombers earned the Empire 8's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. Ithaca had road victories at Springfield and No. 18 Rochester to earn the program's first trip to the round of 16. Ithaca suffered a 73-72 loss at No. 7 Middlebury in the Sweet 16 to end its season.
