Golden Flyers are 2-0 in Empire 8

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth dominated visiting St. John Fisher in an Empire 8 Conference men's tennis match Tuesday. The Golden Flyers swept all three doubles matches on their way to an 8-1 victory over the Cardinals. Nazareth won its third match overall and improved to 2-0 in conference action. Fisher dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8.

Seniors Ryan McCormick, Jeremy Mancus and Bret Beaver each won at both singles and doubles as did junior Erik Manske and freshman Tyler Williams.

McCormick and Williams took and 8-2 victory at first doubles, while Mancus and Manske teamed up for an 8-5 win at second doubles. Beaver combined with sophomore Matt Jennings for a point at third doubles.

McCormick, Mancus, Beaver, Manske and Williams each won in straight sets in singles. Beaver's match at third singles was the closest as he needed a tiebreaker to take the first set 7-6, then took the second 6-4.

Nazareth plays again Saturday at home against Utica at 1 p.m.
