ITHACA, N.Y. – The 17th-ranked Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team defeated visiting St. John Fisher, 11-3, Friday night at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers improve to 2-1 in the conference and 8-4 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 84, 2-2.

Ithaca held the Cardinals to their fewest goals since an 11-3 loss at Ithaca on March 21, 2007.

Both teams struggled to find the net early on, as Ithaca led just 1-0 after the opening period. Early in the second quarter, Fisher tied the score at 1-1. The Bombers then added three-straight goals to head to the locker rooms with a 4-1 advantage.

Fisher again netted the first score of the third, but Ithaca went on to record five straight and seven of the final eight for an 11-3 final.

Ithaca outshot Fisher 38-22 in the contest and collected 18 more ground balls than the Cardinals. Fisher was extremely efficient on the clear, failing on just 1-of-18 attempts.

Both teams return to action Wednesday, April 17 at 4 p.m. as the Bombers travel to Utica, while the Cardinals host SUNY Oswego in a non-league game.
