Ithaca Sweeps Utica; Fisher Splits with Case; Stevens Rolls Past Baruch
ITHACA v UTICA
The Ithaca College baseball team swept the Utica Pioneers to extended their winning streak to 18 games. The Bombers scored 21 runs on the day to defeat the Pioneers 13-3, and 8-2 Sunday afternoon at Freeman Field. Ithaca was the visiting team in the games although the games were played at their home field. The Bombers return to play on Tuesday in Rochester for a non-conference game against the Yellowjackets beginning at 6 p.m.

Box Score and Play-by-Play
The Bombers used four hits to score five runs in the top of the first inning. Christian Brown doubled to start the game and scored one batter later when Tim Locastro singled to left field. Locastro then stole second and scored on an RBI single by Colby Gee. Senior catcher Corey Caswell then doubled to right center to score Tim Henry, who had walked, and Gee to make the score 4-0. Caswell later scored on a fielder’s choice to complete the five-run first.
Ithaca continued the scoring attack in the fourth inning when the first three batters of the inning singled. Brown led the inning off with a single to center field, and was followed by a single by Locastro. Henry then singled down the left field line to score Brown. Locastro and Henry later scored on a walk by Caswell and a fielder’s choice by Max Addy.
The Bomber offense notched their second five-run inning of the day in the fifth. Luke Stark and Andrew Turner both singled to left field to start the inning. After a Christian Brown walk, Locastro singled down the left field line scoring Stark and Cameron Oathout who had pinch run for Turner. Brown later scored when freshman Stephen Yanchus reach on a fielding error by the third baseman. With two outs, Kevin Primm made the score 13-2 with a two-run single up the middle scoring Locastro and Yanchus.
The Bombers tallied 14 hits in the game. Locastro had a team best three hits, three runs batted in, and scored three runs. Brown and Primm also had two hits in the contest. Caswell had three RBIs.
Jimmy Wagner started the game on the mound and earned the win for Ithaca to improve to 7-0 on the season. Wagner went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, and striking out two. Freshman Brandon Diorio finished the final two innings for the Bombers, giving up just one run and striking out three.

Box Score and Play-by-Play
John Prendergast pitched a complete game for the Bombers bringing a no-hitter into the bottom of the last inning. He gave up two runs on two hits, and struck out three.
Ithaca used three hits in the second to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Corey Caswell used a bunt single to lead off the inning and was immediately followed by a single up the middle by Max Addy. Brian Burns then reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases. An RBI single down the right field line by Luke Stark gave the Bombers an early 1-0 lead. With the bases still loaded, a fielder’s choice by Cameron Oathout scored Addy to make it 2-0. A two-out walk to Christian Brown loaded the bases and another walk to Tim Henry scored Burns to complete the scoring in the second.
The Bombers added to their lead in the fourth when Oathout and Locastro were both hit by pitches to start the inning. After Henry walked to load the bases junior Colby Gee hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Oathout making the score 4-0. The Ithaca offense remained at bay until the sixth when Brown reached on an error, Locastro was hit by a pitch, and Henry walked to load the bases with no outs. Gee then singled down the left field line to score both Brown and Locastro. Addy later singled up the middle to score Henry and Gee and increase the Bomber lead to 8-0.
ST. JOHN FISHER v CASE WESTERN UNIVERSITY
The St. John Fisher College baseball team split with Case Western Reserve University in a Sunday doubleheader at Dugan Yard. With the split, Fisher is now 15-9 on the season while Case is 17-8. The Cardinals will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday as it hosts Allegheny College in Jamestown, NY.
Game One – Fisher 3, Case Western Reserve 1:
Fisher used a three-run second inning to power past Case in game one of the doubleheader. Trailing 1-0 after starting pitcher
Justin D'Amato walked in a run in Case's offensive half inning, the Cardinals' bats awoke for the first time this weekend.
Nick Flemister walked with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Matt Creenan stepped to the plate with two outs and crushed a double to right field, scoring Flemister to knot the game at 1-1.
Mike Roman then walked before
Cody Wiktorski, in his first career start, singled to right centerfield to drive in the game-winning run as Creenan scored from second. Roman, who advanced to third on the Wiktorski single, scored during the next at-bat as
Ben Bostick singled through the right side to make the score 3-1.
D'Amato earned his fifth win of the season after going six-innings and scattering six hits. The junior struck out four batters while only surrendering one run.
Jordan Doroshenko relieved D'Amato in the seventh for a matchup with a left-handed batter. The Cardinals' lefty induced a line out to right, as Bostick tracked the ball for the out on what was a 3-2 count.
Fisher then brought in right-hander
Shawn Corrigan for the final two outs, giving up two hits before closing out the game and earning the save.
Bostick and Wiktorski led the Cardinals at the dish, each finishing with two hits and a RBI. Flemister, Creenan and
Sean Osterman finished with the other three hits for Fisher, with Creenan driving in the Cardinals other run.
Game Two – Case 8, Fisher 4:
Fisher scored first in the second inning when Flemister led off with a single and was driven in three batters later on a Roman sacrifice fly. Case answered, however, with a single run in each of the next three innings to take a 3-1 advantage.
Brad Rush came through in the bottom of the fifth, plating
Tim Coykendall and Bostick with a one-out single to knot the score at 3-3. Coykendall led off the inning with a walk and Bostick followed that with a single to right field.
The Spartans put the game out of reach in the sixth, scoring five runs to take a 8-3 lead. Fisher plated one more run in the sixth when Bostick drove in
Chris Roeder, who singled to center to lead off the inning.
Mike Rynerson got the start and pitched five solid innings, allowing three runs on five hits and left the game with the score tied.
Erin Moskal relieved Rynerson and got two quick outs in the sixth before he let up three hits that led to four runs and earned the decision.
Teddy Ruff and
Zach Weaver closed out the last inning and a third, with Ruff letting up a run in the sixth.
Bostick continued a good day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Brad Rush also had three hits on four at-bats with two RBI. Flemister, Barley and Roeder had Fisher's other three base knocks.
STEVENS v BARUCH
The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team used a four-run second inning and a five-run fifth to post a 10-1 victory over Baruch College on Sunday afternoon at Dobbelaar Field. With the win, Stevens is now back over .500 at 15-14 and pounded out 15 hits on the day.
Junior
Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) started his 3-for-4 day with a solo homerun in the bottom of the first to give the Ducks an early 1-0 lead with two outs. Allen also drove in four runs, scored once and stole a base in the ballgame.
Stevens built onto its lead in the following inning with four runs in the second on five hits. Sophomore
Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off with a single to begin his perfect 3-for-3 afternoon at the dish. Fellow sophomore
Brian Hennelly (Holbrook, N.Y.) followed with a double to the left-center field gap to bring home Mannello for the first run of the frame. After a single from senior

Gregg Nickels (Simpsonville, S.C.) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up to second and third base. Stevens loaded the bases after a hit by pitch to freshman
John Sideris (Whitestone, N.Y.) for classmate
Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, Calif.). Yano drove in Hennelly with a single and then two more runs came home on a sacrifice fly from freshman
Nicholas Sieber (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and a base hit from Allen to cap off the inning.
Courter, Hennelly, Nickles and Yano all picked up two hits in the contest. Courter and Hennelly also scored twice, as did Mannello and Sideris. Yano and Sieber both finished with two RBI.
Baruch struggled against starting sophomore
Peirce Marston (Silver Spring, Md.) all game and plated its lone run of the contest in the third on three consecutive hits. Marston earned the victory in six innings pitched an scattered eight hits with no walks and seven strike outs.
In the five-run fifth, the Ducks benefitted from a dropped fly ball that eventually led to all five runs in the frame. Singles from Mannello and Hennelly put two runners on with one out. Courter stepped to the plate and lifted a fly ball to right field which was dropped to prolong the inning after a strike out by Nickels. From there, Stevens put the next four runners on base by way of a hit by pitch, a walk, single and double from Allen that brought the final two runs in.
Junior
Mark Poinsett (Ocean Gate, N.J.) pitched two solid innings in relief with one punch out and two hits allowed. The ninth inning was divided between freshmen
Easton Obojkovits (Holmes, N.Y.) and
Bridger Cohen (Chester, N.J.) and senior
Craig Leopold (Edison, N.J.).
