Susquehanna Takes Fifth at Glenmaura Invite; Welkie Third Overall

MOOSIC, Pa. – The Susquehanna men’s golf team took fifth overall at the two-day Glenmaura Invitational. Junior
Steve Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) was third overall in the field of 60 golfers after shooting a two-day score of 149, including an even par 71 on Monday, tied for the lowest score in either round.
Scranton, the host institution, won the team title with a score of 622 (+54), winning over McDaniel in a playoff. Swarthmore and Muhlenberg tied for third with scores of 636 (+68), followed by SU which shot a 643 (+75).
Welkie shot a 71 on Monday after shooting a 78 on Sunday to finish the tournament with a score of 149. Freshmen
Dylan Gladd (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) and
Daniel Wilson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hill Regional) tied for 24
th and 26
th, respectively, with scores of 164 and 165.
Ryan Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./The Hun School) also finished in the top 30 with his two-round score of 166.
Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) was 35
th overall after shooting a 170.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday when they host their annual Susquehanna Invitational starting at 1 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday April 20-21 SU will then compete at the Empire 8 Championships.
