MEDFORD, Mass. (April 14, 2013)
– Sophomore Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) and seniors Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) and Bill Hazen (Union Beach, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology outdoor track & field teams traveled to Tufts University to represent the school at Ellis Oval in the heptathlon and decathlon events this weekend.

Dardir placed first overall in the heptathlon with a school record total of 3,880 points. She took first in three events and was second in another. Dardir’s mark currently sits third by ECAC standards and is the 24th best total in the NCAA.

She posted the top marks in the 100-meter hurdles (16.00 seconds), high jump (1.63 meters) and long jump (4.86 meters). Her throw of 24 meters in the javelin was good for second overall in the competition. Dardir owned the old school record of 3,399 points set last season.

The sophomore topped the next closest athlete by nearly 300 points (3,880 to 3,586).

Servito took fifth overall out of 12 participants in the decathlon with 5,427 points. He missed fourth place by just 37 points and posted three second place showings. Servito’s runner-up marks were in the 110 hurdles (15.50 seconds), the high jump (1.87 meters) and the pole vault (3.30 meters). He was also fourth in the 100 dash with a 12.01 seconds in the 10-event competition.

Hazen finished eighth in the decathlon with 4,979 points. His best showings came in the discus with a first place toss of 31.85 meters. Hazen also finished third in the shot put (11.53 meters) and fourth in the javelin (40.55 meters). He was also fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.81 meters.
