Ithaca Selected As Host Site For NCAA Softball Regional

ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College has been selected as one of eight host sites for regional round competition during the 2013 NCAA Division III Softball Championships, which will be held May 9-13, 2013. The tournament field with assigned regionals will be announced May 6 at 10 a.m. at NCAA.com.

This is the 13th time that Ithaca has been selected as a regional host for softball since 1996, a span of 18 years. The Bombers have won the regional title nine times as a host site and have appeared in the NCAA Tournament 25 times, winning the national championship in 2002.

Kostrinsky Field, the home of Ithaca College softball, underwent significant renovations and construction prior to the 2012 season and is one of the finest facilities in Division III softball.

In addition to the Ithaca Regional, six other sites were announced as hosts, with the host institution indicated in parentheses – Pella, Iowa (Central); Montclair, N.J. (Montclair State); Salem, Va. (Roanoke); Angola, Indiana (Trine); Tyler, Texas (Texas-Tyler); and Whitewater, Wis. (Wisconsin-Whitewater). The eighth regional site will be announced in the near future.

The eight regional champions will advance to the finals, which will be hosted by Wisconsin-Eau Claire from May 17-21 at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wis.
