Monroe and Simoneau Named ECAC Athletes of the Week

Utica softball player Chelsea Monroe and Nazareth men's lacrosse face-off specialist Drew Simoneau have been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week for the week of April 9-14.

Division III – Upstate Softball

Chelsea Monroe - Utica College

Junior, Utility, Watertown, N.Y.

Monroe batted .429 and hit four home runs to help Utica to a 6-0 record last week, including back-to-back Empire 8 sweeps over Nazareth and St. John Fisher. In Empire 8 games, she had a .444 average with three home runs with two RBI. Her biggest performance was against Fisher on April 14 where she went 4-for-6 on the day with two two-run homers. On the week, Monroe scored six runs and totaled seven RBIs with a slugging percentage of 1.357.

Offensive Player of the Week

Drew Simoneau – Nazareth College

Sophomore, Midfielder, Manchester, N.H.

Simoneau continued his dominance at the faceoff position on April 13 by winning 23 of 29 draws in an 18-10 win over Hartwick. He also set a school record with 19 ground balls. For the season, Simoneau is among the national leaders with 128 ground balls (11.6 per game) and has won 174 of 279 faceoffs (62.3 percent).
