Outdoor Track and Field Championships Set for April 20
Nazareth College will be a popular Empire 8 attraction on Saturday, April 20 as the Golden Flyers host the 2013 E8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Competition in the 19-event affair begins at 10:30 a.m. and continues through the awards ceremony with an estimated time of 5:30 p.m.
The Empire 8 Championships consist of seven teams on both the men’s and women’s side. It is important to note that athletes from NCAA Provisional member Houghton College are eligible for individual honors, however the team is not eligible for the team title.
Last season, the Ithaca women won their fifth consecutive title, while the Bomber men claimed their sixth straight championship.
Entering the championships, two women’s teams are regionally ranked in the latest top 10 poll, as Ithaca comes in at No. 4 followed by Stevens at No. 10.
On the men’s side, the latest regional poll didn’t feature any Empire 8 teams, but the Ithaca Bombers were ranked No. 10 in the April 10 poll.
