Brown, Montella Lead Royals Past FDU-Florham Monday
MORRISTOWN, NJ—Freshmen
Ryan Brown (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) and
Eric Montella (Waverly, Pa./Abington Heights) carded rounds of 76 and 77, respectively, to lead The University of Scranton men’s golf team past FDU-Florham, 309-317, Monday afternoon at the Morris County Golf Club.
The Royals, now 7-0 in dual-meet competition this year, also received 78s from juniors
Charles Hudacek (Moosic, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) and
Kevin Kucharski (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) and sophomore
Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights).
Scranton also received a 79 from junior
Grant Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City), an 80 from senior co-captain
Jamie Bresnahan (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) and an 83 from senior co-captain
Justin Riley (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield).
Kevin McKloskey led FDU-Florham with a 77 and Matt Molinari, Dan Benson, and Shane Sickles rounded out the scoring with a 79, 80, and 81, respectively.
Brown’s 76 was his second sub-80 round in as many starts and Montella’s 77 tied his previous low round of 77, which he recorded in the second round of the Empire 8 Conference championships on September at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, New York.
The Royals will return to action this Wednesday, April 3, against Baptist Bible College at Stone Hedge Golf Course in Tunkhannock beginning at 1:00 p.m.
