DuPont and Prosak Pick up E8 Honors
Sophomore Morgan DuPont of Utica College and junior Tara Prosak of the Nazareth College women’s lacrosse team were named Empire 8 Player and Goalie of the Week for their impressives performance during the week of March 25-31.
DuPont racked up seven points to help the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last week. On Tuesday, she netted two goals in UC’s 10-5 victory over Oswego. She followed that up with a game-high four goals and added one assist as Utica defeated Hartwick in its E8 opener on Saturday afternoon. She leads the team with 26 points (17 goals, nine assists) on the season.
The Pioneers are off to a program-best 6-1 start. UC will take on cross-town rival SUNYIT Tuesday night at 7 p.m. before heading to Rochester this weekend for Empire 8 games against St. John Fisher College on Saturday and Nazareth College on Sunday.
Prosak made 18 saves in pair of Nazareth victories last week. She equaled a career-best with 14 saves in a 9-8 non-conference victory at RIT last Tuesday. Prosak also had four saves without allowing a goal in the first half of Friday's 17-3 E8 win over Alfred.
Prosak boosted her save percentage to .509 while lowering her goals-against average to 8.67.
The Golden Flyers are home for a pair of Empire 8 Conference games this weekend. Nazareth hosts Ithaca Saturday at 1 p.m. and Utica Sunday at 1 p.m.
