Fisher Extends Lead At E8 Championship

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team shot a 315 on Saturday in the third round of the Empire 8 Conference Championship in Hershey, Pa.   The Cardinals have a three-day total of 911 - 39 shots ahead of the rest of the field.

Freshman Corey Haas led Fisher on Saturday, carding a team-low 77, while Joseph Radulski and Thad Wier, both shot 79.  Chris Blyth rounded out the scoring for Fisher with an 80.

Fisher will return to action on Sunday for the fourth and final round.  If the Cardinals hang on for the win, it will be the program's eighth conference title in the last nine years and will automatically-qualify the team for the NCAA Division III Championship, held May 14-17 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla.

The University of Scranton men's golf team moved into second place alone after the third round of the E8 Championships.

The Royals shot a four-score total of 335 on the par-71 course in windy, chilly conditions. That gives Scranton a three-round total of 950. Scranton is five shots ahead of third-place Elmira, which entered the day tied for second with the Royals.

The Royals were led by senior Jamie Bresnahan who shot an 11-over-par 82 and is in ninth place overall. Junior Charles Hudacek and freshman Eric Montella each shot 12-over 83.

Elmira senior Alex Todd is tied for second place individually, while the EC Men's Golf team sits in third place. The Soaring Eagles shot a team score of 340 on the day and have a combined score of 955, putting themselves five strokes behind the University of Scranton. Todd led Elmira on the day shooting a 78 and combining for a three day total of 228 just one stroke behind Fisher's Blyth.
