Fisher Clinches Postseason Bid With Win At Alfred

The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team locked up the No. 4 seed for the Empire 8 Conference Championship on Thursday with a 5-4 win at Alfred University. With the win, Fisher improves to 6-9 overall, but more importantly, 4-2 in the Empire 8.
Senior Bryan Hanley picked up the decisive point, holding on for a 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 6-1 win at fourth singles. Nathaniel Ligon won again at fifth singles (6-2, 6-3), while senior Tom Quinzi won easily (6-0, 6-1) at sixth singles).
Daniel Parshall battled back for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles.
Fisher earned its lone point in doubles action with an 8-3 win at third doubles from Ligon and Sheldon Mitchell.
Fisher closes out the regular season on Saturday vs. Ithaca College.
