Elmira College Hires Keith Moore as Head Men’s Soccer Coach

Elmira, NY – Pat Thompson, Vice President of Athletics, announced the appointment of Keith Moore as Head Men’s Soccer Coach. Moore takes over the Elmira College Men’s Soccer program, which tied a school record with 13 wins during the 2012 season.

Coach Moore is no stranger to the Elmira College program, having served as the assistant coach during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. During Moore’s time on the bench six different Soaring Eagles earned all-conference accolades as the team finished with a combined record of 23-13-3. In the 2009 season he was crucial in assisting Empire 8 Coach of the Year Jeremiah Kneeland.

“Coach Moore’s enthusiasm, passion for soccer and demonstrated ability to recruit creates excitement for his return to our program,” Thompson said.

Moore then moved on from EC to Keystone College and served as the head coach for the past two seasons.While at Keystone he guided the Giants to a 4-4-1 conference mark in 2012, as the team earned a postseason berth for the second straight year.  His leadership in guiding the Giants to the playoffs was recognized by his fellow conference coaches, naming him 2011 CSAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Prior to his stint at Elmira, Coach Moore was a four year athlete at NCAA Division I University of Maine-Orono, (America East Conference) from 2000-2004. After his collegiate experience, Moore went on to play in the Professional Development League of the United States Soccer League for the Brooklyn Knights.

In 2007 he served as the trainer for Lehigh Valley United and during 2007-2009 Moore was a trainer at the Sound Soccer Academy. He holds an NSCAA Advanced National Coaching Diploma, Advanced Regional Coaching Diploma, State Goalkeeping Diploma, USSF ‘B’ and ‘C’ licenses.

"I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Elmira College,” Moore said. “The men's soccer program has become a model of progress and I look forward to building upon that momentum. The roster is full of players that I believe strongly in, and I am excited to begin our work."

Coach Moore is a native of Shoreham, NY and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maine and a Master's degree in Education from Elmira College.
