Pinto and Luna Meet ECAC Marks in First Outdoor Track & Field Meet at Richard Stockton

POMONA, N.J. (March 23, 2013) – In the first outdoor track & field meet of the spring season for the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s team, two student-athletes placed first in their respective meets and also met ECAC standards in the process at Richard Stockton College. There was no team scoring at the meet.
Sophomore
Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) took top honors in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters. Pinto broke the Stevens school record and qualified for ECAC’s with his performance.
In the javelin, senior
Sebastian Luna (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) blew away the field by over two meters with a toss of 59.95 meters. Luna competed against 20 other participants and met an ECAC standard with the toss.
Senior
Victor Servito (Teaneck, N.J.) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25 seconds and also ran a leg on the third place 4x400-meter relay team. The relay team posted a time of 3:30.20 and the other three legs were run by freshman
Zach Andrews (Fairport, N.Y.), junior
Walter Goodwin (Floral Park, N.Y.) and freshman
Tom Halleran (Oakland, N.J.).
Goodwin also finished sixth overall in the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.03 and 23.41 seconds, respectively.
Junior
Cory Zegel (North Bergen, N.J.) posted a mark of 39.61 meters in the hammer throw to finish fourth overall, while senior
Andrew Kraemer (Budd Lake, N.J.) took sixth in the discus with a mark of 36.05 meters.
Stevens competes again on March 30 at Monmouth University at 10:30 a.m.
