Bomber Women's T&F Team Meets Eight ECAC Qualifiers at the Ithaca Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women’s track & field team met eight ECAC qualifiers Saturday at the Ithaca Invitational at Butterfield Stadium.
Ithaca’s 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Rachel Friedman, freshman Eliza Dewart, senior Cassandra Clark and freshman Christine Kelly hit the ECAC qualifier winning the race in 50.20.
Ithaca had a pair of qualifiers in the 100 hurdles and the hammer throw.
In the hurdles, senior Tammia Hubbard ran second in 15.80 and sophomore Christine Benway was fourth in 16.08.
Senior Colleen Garman won the hammer with a toss of 44.20 and junior Elaine Abdulky followed as the runner-up with a heave of 43.63 meters. The pair also finished with the top two spots in the discus. Abdulky won the event with a mark of 35.06 meters and Garman was second with a distance of 34.86 meters.
Senior Jenn Randall won the 400 dash in an ECAC-qualifying 59.95. Classmate Rachel Spirito ran third in 1:02.73.
Sophomore Alexa Rick placed second in the 5,000 run with an ECAC-good time of 18:33.80.
Freshman Brooke Zimmerman recorded a mark of 38.49 meters in the javelin to hit the ECAC qualifier and win the event. Classmate Kristen Pompey followed in third place with a throw of 31.05 meters.
Bombers took one, two, three in the 100 and 200 dashes and the long jump. Freshmen Sarah Werner, Emily Williams and Lizzi Dowling claimed the top finishes in the 100 with times of 13.03, 13.46 and 13.50. Dewart, Kelly and sophomore Kristen Swanson finished with times of 26.74, 27.32 and 27.34, respectively, in the 200. In the long jump, senior Amanda Rissmeyer was first, freshman Kayla Prior second and Dowling third with marks of 5.01 meters, 4.99 meters and 4.80 meters.
Sophomore Leigh Martino placed second in the 400 hurdles and senior Ebonie Howard was third. Martino had a time of 1:07.42 and Howard finished in 1:10.54.
Sophomore Anastasia Diamond was second in the 10K with a time of 40:13.69 and Benway finished as the runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 10.19 meters. Rissmeyer placed third in the shot put with a toss of 11.51 meters.
Ithaca returns to action on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6 at the Princeton Sam Howell Invitational.
