Njoku and Doyle Set School Records at Richard Stockton in First Outdoor Meet for Women’s Outdoor Track & Field

POMONA, N.J. (March 23, 2013) – At the first meet for the Stevens Outdoor Track & Field women’s team at Richard Stockton College on Saturday, two student-athletes placed first overall, another took second and two more finished third. No team scoring was tallied at the meet.
Freshmen
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) and
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) each took top honors in the high jump and 3,000-meter run, respectively. Njoku posted a school record and ECAC mark in the high jump with a cleared bar of 1.58 meters. Regan ran a time of 10:25.08 in the 3,000 and bested the field of 23 by seven seconds.
Fellow freshman
Alexandra Doyle (Colts Neck, N.J.) also set a school standard with a throw of 34.79 meters in the discus to finish third overall. Junior
Rebecca Tylock (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was the runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 3.05 meters.
Junior
Tiffany Evangelou (Fair Lawn, N.J.) competed in the triple jump and placed third overall with a leap of 10.03 meters. Sophomore
Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) ran a time of 17.22 seconds in the 100-meter dash to place fourth overall and finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters.
Senior
Maggie Kowalska (Edison, N.J.) kicked off her third sport of the season after successful campaigns in volleyball and basketball, and placed fourth in the javelin at 35.00 meters.
Freshman
Kate Moyer (Long Valley, N.J.) rounded out the top placements for the Ducks with a sixth place finish in the 3,000 with a time of 11:03.15.
Stevens will compete again on March 30 at Monmouth University at 10:30 a.m.
