Houghton Grabs Several Top-5 Finishes at Battleground Invite

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Strong performances at the Mary Washington Battleground Relays this past weekend has Highlander Head Coach Matt Dougherty pleased and puts the team into a good position heading into the Empire 8 Championships later next month.
At Mary Washington, Dougherty got first place finishes from Alyssa Figueroa (12.67 in the 100 meters), Emily Raczelowski (111-03 in the discus) and Josiah Evans (5-08.5 in the high jump), plus a number of top-five performances from individuals and relay teams.

"This was a nice meet for our team, since we had smaller numbers due to break," said Dougherty. "A lot of athletes competed in new events and did exceptional. This was a good meet to put in some hard work before we begin our prep for conference championships."
