Winkler and Adams Honored by Empire 8
Utica College's Ben Winkler and Trey Adame have been recognized by the Empire 8 Conference for their outstanding efforts during the week of April 22-28. Winkler was tabbed Player of the Week, while Adams was chosen Goalie of the Week.
Winkler netted the game-winner in double overtime to help lift the Pioneers to a 10-9 victory over St. John Fisher College on Saturday. Winkler's goal secured Utica’s first conference tournament appearance in program-history. He totaled two goals against the Cardinals and five total goals in two games last week.
Adams posted a 63.6 save percentage in the second half against Fisher. He stopped seven shots and allowed just four goals in 34:44 minutes of action. Fisher out shot Utica 22-18 in the second half and overtime, but Adams' seven saves made the difference as the Pioneers came away with a one-goal victory.
