Svoboda Snaps 6,000-Point Threshold to Win NYSCTC Decathlon

ITHACA, N.Y. – Seniors Alec Svoboda and Rad Arrindell completed decathlon competition at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Multi Monday at Butterfield Stadium. Svoboda finished first out of 20 competitors with a career-best 6,013 points and Arrindell posted a career-high finish of 5,398 points to place seventh.

Svoboda improved two spots after sitting third at the conclusion of five events on Sunday. He finished the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.34, threw 31.30 meters in the discus, cleared 3.95 meters in the pole vault, tossed 43.45 meters in the javelin and finished the 1,500-meter run in 4:39.79.

Arrindell paced his way to a 16.78 finish in the hurdles, hit 25.49 meters in the discus, vaulted 3.45 meters, threw the javelin 32.63 meters and finished the 1,500 in 4:55.58.

The Bombers will compete Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships hosted by St. Lawrence.
