Pittsford, NY (4/27/2013) - Six different members of the Utica College women’s track & field team placed in the top eight in their respective events at the Cardinal Classic hosted by St. John Fisher College on Saturday.  

Freshman Sarah Wiatr led the way for UC, winning the triple jump competition with a leap of 11.38 meters, while junior Chelsea Bogino finished seventh in the event with a distance of 10.03 meters.

Junior Jaimee Balloni picked up a second place finish in the 1,500 meter run with a career-best time of 4:53.50, while classmate Katie Day finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:18.47).

The women’s 4x400 meter relay team also qualified for the ECAC Championships with an unofficial time of 4:04. 

Freshman Kelcei Edmonds added her personal best in the discuss throw with a toss of 35.50 meters, to place sixth.  Anastasia Bowden added a sixth place finish in the 200-yard dash with a personal best of 26.52, missing the ECAC automatic qualifier by .02 seconds. 

Sophomore Alexis Holmer (5:37.86) and freshman Vasiliki Feggulis (5:45.24) each had personal bests in the 1,500 meter run.  Meanwhile, sophomore Imani Mack had her career-best in the discuss, launching it 28.46 meters. 

The Pioneers return to action Sunday as they compete at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Ithaca College.
