Ziegler Wins NYSCTC Heptathlon

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women’s track & field team concluded New York State Collegiate Track Conference heptathlon action Monday at Butterfield Stadium. Three Bombers finished the event.

Freshman Emily Ziegler won the multi with 4,270 points in her first collegiate showing. She trailed the leader after day one by 74 points, but posted the day’s best long jump performance to power to a 176-point victory Monday afternoon. Ziegler leaped 5.05 meters in the long jump, threw the javelin 26.08 meters and clocked a 2:31.26 finish in the 800-meter run.

Freshman Kristen Pompey placed eighth with a 3,422-point performance and junior Rachel Brown was 11th with 2,908 points. Pompey jumped 4.34 meters in the long, threw 30.45 meters in the javelin and finished the 800 in 2:39.34 on day two. Brown had finishes of 4.22 meters in the long, 17.10 meters in the javelin and 3:04.74 in the 800.

The Bombers will compete Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 at the NYSCTC Outdoor Championships hosted by St. Lawrence.
