MENDON, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth dominated Hartwick in an Empire 8 Conference men's tennis match Saturday at Mendon Racquet Club. The Golden Flyers gained their first conference win of the season with a 9-0 triumph over the Hawks.
Nazareth improved to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in the E8. Hartwick is 0-4 and 0-1.
The closest match came at fifth singles, where
Tyler Williams secured a point by winning a tiebreaker 10-4. Williams won the first set 7-6 over Hartwick Sean Coppola, then lost the second set 6-3.
The Golden Flyers also received straight-set singles wins from
Ryan McCormick,
Jeremy mancus, Bret Breaver,
Erik Manske and
Nick Lord.
McCormick and Williams combined for an 8-5 win at first douibles, while Mancus and Manske won at second doubles and Beaver and
Scott Trobert at #3 doubles.
Nazareth plays at home again Tuesday against St. John Fisher at 4 p.m.
