Hartwick senior Harry Hughes and Elmira senior Dave Bucchino were named the Empire 8 Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player and Goalie of the Week.

Hughes had a big week for the Hawks as he totaled eight goals and three assists for 11 points. In last Wednesday's game against Utica, Hughes scored three goals including a man-down score in Hartwick's 10-6 loss. On Saturday, he led Hartwick with five scores in the Hawks' 12-8 victory over Elmira. In that game, Hughes scored his 176th career goal to make him the all-time scorer in the program's 49-year history and topped the record of 175 set by Ian Ritcey in 1995.

For the season, Hughes has 36 goals to lead the Hawks and the Empire 8. His 45 points are also a team-high and is third in the conference. Nationally, he ranks sixth in the country in goals per game with 3.6.

’Wick' will host Nazareth on Saturday at Wright Stadium. Game time will be at 3 p.m.

Bucchino made a remarkable 36 saves in two games this week in net for Elmira. Despite suffering two losses the senior was a fortress in net averaging 18 saves per game and earning a 56.2 save percentage. Bucchino recorded 15 saves against St. John Fisher on April 3 and he did all he could to keep Elmira in a 12-8 loss to conference foe Hartwick as he made 21 saves on April 6.

Elmira returns to action when it travels to take on Alfred University Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
