Scheemaker Snaps Triple Jump Record, Bombers Compete at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ithaca College women’s track & field team wrapped up competition Saturday at Princeton’s Sam Howell Invitational.
Sophomore Emilia Scheemaker snapped a two-year old school record in the triple jump. She placed fourth to three Division I student-athletes in the event with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 11.62 meters. Marcia McCord had held the previous record of 11.59 meters since April 29, 2011.
Ithaca had an additional five ECAC qualifiers at the meet.
Sophomore Christine Benway, junior Martyann Chromik and freshmen Eliza Dewart and Sarah Werner teamed together to place 11th in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.28. Benway also placed 21st in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.99.
Senior Jenn Randall met the qualifier in the 800 run with a 13th-place finish out of 52 runners of 2:14.86.
Senior Amanda Rissmeyer cleared 1.65 meters to place second in the high jump and freshman Brooke Zimmerman tossed 39.58 meters to finish fourth in the javelin.
Ithaca will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 at Moravian’s Coach P Invitational.
